Assistant Instructors
CodeWarriors is looking for Assistant Instructors to help deliver coding, game development and technology programs for school students across NSW and the ACT.
This is a paid casual role suited to university students, recent graduates, aspiring teachers, junior developers, career changers, or experienced hobbyists who enjoy coding and working with young people.
You will work alongside experienced software developers and educators helping students build projects using real development tools including Python and the Godot game engine. Our instructors team includes software engineers, educators, university students and industry professionals who are passionate about helping young people learn technology.
About CodeWarriors
CodeWarriors runs small-group coding and game development programs for students in school years 4–9.
Our programs include:
- School Holiday Code Camps
- Student Game Jams
- After-School Game Foundry Programs
- Coding Workshops and Special Events
Students learn through guided projects, teamwork and hands-on development rather than passive classroom instruction.
Our goal is to help young people develop confidence, creativity and problem-solving skills through technology.
What You’ll Do
As an Assistant Instructor you will:
- Support students during coding and game development activities.
- Help students debug problems and understand new concepts.
- Assist with small-group instruction and guided workshops.
- Encourage teamwork, communication and problem solving.
- Help students stay engaged and make steady progress on projects.
- Assist with setup, troubleshooting and device support.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
You will generally work under the guidance of a Lead Instructor and collaborate closely with other instructors and student mentors.
What We’re Looking For
You do not need to be an expert game developer.
We are primarily looking for people who are:
- Friendly, approachable and patient.
- Comfortable helping younger students learn.
- Reliable and professional.
- Interested in coding, technology or STEM education.
- Willing to learn alongside students and instructors.
Experience with any of the following is helpful:
- Python
- Godot, or another Game Engine
- Game Development
- Web Development
- General Programming Concepts
- Raspberry Pi
Teaching, tutoring, coaching or mentoring experience is a bonus, but not required.

Is this paid?
Yes. This is a paid casual role. Rates will be discussed during the interview process.
Do I need teaching experience?
No. We provide guidance and support. A positive attitude and willingness to help students learn are more important.
Do I need to know Godot?
No. Experience with any programming language is valuable. We can help you learn the tools we use.
What age students will I work with?
Most programs are aimed at students in school years 4–9, and many of our events also have one or more Student mentors from school years 10-12.
