For Parents
Real Coding Skills in a Supportive Environment#
CodeWarriors helps young people develop genuine programming skills through structured, hands-on coding programs.
We work primarily with students in Years 4–9 who are curious about how software works and ready to move beyond introductory, block-based coding environments.
Our goal is simple: to build confidence, capability, and a lasting affinity for writing real code.
What Your Child Will Learn#
Students in our programs:
- Work with real programming languages (Python and the Godot game engine)
- Build complete working projects
- Develop problem-solving and debugging skills
- Experience collaborative project work in small teams
- Learn how software is designed, structured, and improved over time
Rather than sampling many tools briefly, we focus on helping students build meaningful competence in a small number of carefully chosen technologies.
A Typical Day (Code Camps)#
A typical day includes:
- Guided instruction introducing new concepts
- Hands-on project development time
- Small team collaboration
- Structured support from instructors and mentors
- Breaks and informal discussion
- One or two short “unplugged” challenges with an engineering or team-based focus
- A short demonstration of what students have built that day
Students experience both the challenge and satisfaction of building working software — with support appropriate to their level.
Confidence Through Guided Success#
We intentionally design projects so that students experience achievable challenges.
This means:
- Beginners are supported step-by-step
- More experienced students are extended appropriately
- Every student leaves with something working
- Projects can be continued and improved at home
Our aim is for students to leave not only with new technical skills, but with greater confidence in their ability to solve complex problems.
Supervision & Safety#
Programs are delivered by experienced software engineers with backgrounds in industry leadership and classroom teaching.
All adult staff hold NSW Working With Children Checks.
We maintain clear expectations around behaviour, age-appropriate content, and respectful collaboration.

Is CodeWarriors Right for My Child?#
CodeWarriors is particularly well suited to students who:
- Enjoy problem-solving
- Are curious about how games or apps are built
- Are ready to move beyond purely visual coding platforms such as Scratch or other block-based environments
- Are willing to engage thoughtfully with guided challenges
Students do not need prior experience — but they do need a willingness to learn and try. We work carefully to ensure that beginners feel supported, while more experienced students are appropriately extended.
Continuing Beyond the Program#
Many students continue developing their projects at home, experimenting with new features, or collaborating with friends.
Our focus on real programming languages means skills gained in CodeWarriors transfer directly into high school computing subjects and independent exploration.
